Lost in procrastination

Hello, hello and hello, sorry it has been a while since updating, I have been training in a job to earn some extra cash, as we all know we can't live on fresh air!
Due to being unable to get the break in Manchester, I have decided to take on another job to get some cash in the back burner and then relocate to a more southern area.
I was in hope to find an amazing design job in Manchester which would allow me to grow and develop into a Creative necessity, however due to the lack of openings, I shall be leaving my beloved North. This has always been a consideration of mine and is probably a commonly known fact that the majority of design jobs seem to eminate from Down South. After telling the parents I received mixed feelings, my dad, coming from a working class background (Joiner) told me I'm wasting my time, blahh blahh blahh, and my mum expressed her scaredness of me being lonely if I went.
I do take all these opinions into account as I'm fairly recpetive, but I've decided that to get somewhere in this business you have to take chances, use your intiative and apply yourself more than usual! I do know that no matter what I decide my parents will back me all the way, but I'd like for them to say 'Go for it!!'.

Well anyway, I think thats all thats gone on in the past few days, I did receive an email from the people at YCN online in view to perspective jobs, which I appreciated massively! My thanks goes out to their team who are constantly striving to help design talent from all over the UK!

Okay so for now, I'll leave you with this thought...

'What goes up, must come down'...'but what goes down must certainly always have a chance to go back up again'.

Moderate motivation

After spending the majority of the day reading through todays news I have come to the conclusion that the world is currently in tatters at the moment, it'd be so easy to switch off, not read or watch the news and trundle on through life with no knowledge of whats on your doorstep. Woa, I'll stop this political rant right now, or it will go on for ever, my opinions seem to take over quite often, it's the bloomin 'once you pop you cant stop' scenario.
Anywho, I did have a nice chat with a recruitment lady who I will call S, who is dealing with my CV at the moment and has come up with a vacancy for me. The company is looking for a Junior Designer who is at the bottom of the food chain.
By Bottom I mean, has no foothold at all, so they can have the ability to mould the new employee into something amazing. Although I do have a little drop of experience I would jump at the chance to get my size 10's in their door and proceeded to tell S this.
With this in mind, I began to smile and realise there is hope in the world after all, especially when you have amazing people who understand your plight and want to help me, and also sound rather beautiful on the phone!
As I'm currently unemployed I decided to throw a couple of CV's at some retail places, you see, this is one area I don't want to expand in!
After spending seven, yes 7! years in Tesco (it was a side job whilst I was in education, I wanted my own money and car!) I gained Team leadership, Customer service and communication skills that I believe have helped me a great deal!

After dealing with 25 moaning women in Tesco, my final Year presentation was a complete doddle, I went in with the realisation that I was a great open speaker and had the skills and back up work to WOW anyone!

Currently I've just walked in through the door after having a great laugh and chat with the friends in a gorgeous pub in Chorlton, it's amazing how much a bit of banter and a laugh can put a smile on your face.

And with all that JazZ done and said, I am now gonna start on a layout for a brief about 'being green' which was set as a design comp by 'SUDO associates'. The winner will have their image printed and exhibited which is always a plus!

Another day, another rejection mail

Today has been spent trawling the net for design jobs, I'm coming to the point where i'm thinking should I simply go grab a retail job to pay the bills and use my spare time to do design? Does it have to be like this?
I mean, there must be a job out there for me!
Ive decided to apply for an Ma in Design and Art Direction also to add a bit more bulk to my knowledge and also I'm sure to meet some like minded individuals in the same boat!
I've come across a site with a cracking competition in the form of designing the outside casings of a laptop. It is ran by MTV in partnership with Hewlett Packard and can be found HERE . I recommend having a bash as theirs some great prizes up for grabs and it's always good to win a comp and throw it in your folio!
In other news, yet another day, another rejection letter, I am convinced that I shall one day be in my dream job and am still keeping the determination to crack on and not become fazed!
Ive got a couple of books to read tonight, do a work out and then hit the friends house for a bit of banter and some xBox 36'ing!
Until tomorrow - Bonjour, Bon soir' and good morning!

Oh and if you were wondering what the small dot above the i is called......it's a tittle.

Hello from Lollyp0p

Lollyp0p is a brainchild of this young fellow:
Well, a belated yet appropriately timed hello to you all, first off I'll start with an introduction. My name is James, I'm a 23 year old who has just graduated and trying to break into the scene of Graphic Design. Apart from having 10 months experience and 3 placements under my belt I am still finding it quite difficult to get my feet in the door!
This weblog will be aimed at telling my day to day story and events on my journey to getting my dream job.
Apart from this I will be listing the hottest links, books and info for everyone who is in the same boat, trust me, I KNOW exactly how you are feeling!
So, for now I shall leave it at that and begin the prep work for the blogs and info, plus if you have any info or want to get in touch, don't Hesitate!
